The London Eye
August 2, 2000
What you will see...
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel across the River Thames from Big Ben and Parliament. It is about twice the height of Big Ben and views from it are awesome. Passengers ride in large capsules and only remain in the wheel for one rotation, which is quite slow, taking about half an hour. The ramp at the bottom is curved to align with the shape of the bottom of the wheel, and when a capsule arrives its passengers promptly depart. The capsule is quickly cleaned and then a new load of passengers boards before it rotates beyond the ramp.
How the slide show works...
Pictures will be displayed in order. After seeing each picture, click on it to see the next one. If you want to skip some, you can see small versions of the next 15 that are coming at the bottom. Click on the first one of those that you want to see, and you will skip ahead.
You can only go back by clicking "back" on your browser, so it's best to not try to skip around.
If you've gone through all the pictures and ask for the next one, you will come back to this page.
The photos are accompanied by descriptions, which can also be seen by placing your mouse pointer over the small versions of the photos before you click on one. This works on PCs but may not work on some other systems.
