We headed east via I-80 to Salt Lake City, then took Route U.S. 40 into Colorado. We visited Steamboat Springs, took a trip
through beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park, and spent time in Boulder and Denver. Then we headed south to Colorado
Springs, visiting the Garden of the Gods and taking the cog railway to the top of Pike's Peak. We then took a day to travel
through the high country of Colorado before heading west to Gunnison, Crested Butte and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
We met Larry's sister Sue and brother-in-law Ed there at Black Canyon. We then spent three days in the Grand Junction area
visiting with Sue and Ed and traveling through the Colorado National Monument and the Grand Mesa. It was hot in the Grand
Junction area with the temperature reaching 100 to 104 degrees, but up on the Grand Mesa it was a cool 68.
We were going to travel home via Moab, Utah, Canyonlands, Bryce and Zion National Parks, but the weather man was forecasting temperatures of 110 to 114 degrees for those areas. We knew we wouldn't enjoy the heat and wouldn't want to get out of the air conditioned car to see anything, so we decided to do that another time. We headed for home on I-70 and Route U.S. 50. As you'll see, we saw some really beautiful scenery on this trip. In fact, most of the photos are of scenic vistas, mountains, wild flowers and views seen from the highway as we traveled through the states of California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. This was a 3,500 mile trip lasting 16 days. Join us on our journey through our gallery of photos. The photos will be displayed in order. After seeing one, click on it to see the next one. You will see small versions of the next 15 photos that are coming below the big picture. If you want to skip ahead, click on the first one of those that you want to see, and you will move ahead to that photo. You can only go back by clicking "back" on your browser, so it's best to not try to skip around. Descriptions are shown over many of the photos. With some browsers you can also see the descriptions for upcoming photos by placing your mouse pointer over the small version of the photo before you click on it. This may not work on some systems. When you've seen the last photo, asking for the next one will bring you back to this page. Enjoy our trip with us!
